6.0–7.0 in Soil
5.5–6.5 in Hydro/Coco

How to Check It

🌱 What They Are

• pH Up (alkaline solution) raises the pH of your water or nutrient solution.
• pH Down (acidic solution) lowers the pH.

Common ingredients:
– pH Up: Potassium hydroxide (KOH)
– pH Down: Phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) or nitric acid

📏 Why It Matters

Cannabis plants thrive in a slightly acidic pH range:
• Soil: 6.0–6.8
• Hydroponics/Coco: 5.5–6.2

Outside this range, nutrients get locked out, even if present in the solution—leading to deficiency symptoms.

🧪 How to Use

1. Mix nutrients into your water.
2. Measure the pH using a digital meter or test drops.
3. Add small amounts of pH Up or Down, stir, and re-test.
4. Repeat until you’re in the target pH range.

👉 Always adjust pH after adding nutrients, since they affect the final reading.

🔧 Tips

• Use gloves when handling—these are corrosive chemicals.
• Keep a log of how much you typically use.
• Overcorrecting can cause “yo-yo” pH swings.
